Faith
Faith in Islam is about a personal relationship with God, trust in His wisdom, and an awareness of life's meaning. Here are the fundamental elements, explained simply.
Belief in One God (tawhid)
The most important thing in Islam is belief in One God. Nothing and no one shares God's place. This monotheism is called tawhid and is the foundation of the entire religion.
God is the creator of all that exists. He is close to humanity, but not like anything in creation.
The angels
Muslims believe in angels as invisible beings created by God. They carry out God's commands and have no free will to do evil.
The angel Gabriel (Jibril) played a central role when the message was delivered to the prophets.
The holy books
Muslims believe that God revealed holy scriptures to various prophets – including to Moses (the Torah), David (the Psalms), Jesus (the Gospel), and Muhammad (the Quran).
The Quran is regarded as the final and preserved message, written in Arabic.
The prophets
God sent prophets to all peoples to guide them. Muslims believe in all the prophets God sent, without distinguishing between them in respect.
The prophets were people of exceptional morality with a clear message about God.
Life after death
Muslims believe that this life is a trial period, and that there will come a day of accountability before God.
Belief in life after death gives meaning to morality, justice, and care for others.
